Hot-hand fallacy

Also known as: Hot hand · Streak belief
Fairly common#54 of 71 by how common ← All logical fallacies

What it is

Believes that someone on a winning streak is more likely to keep winning in situations where outcomes are largely independent. (Whether a real "hot hand" exists in sport is still debated.)

Example "He's hit five in a row, so he can't miss."
