Anecdotal fallacy

Also known as: Argument from anecdote · Anecdotal evidence
Very common#13 of 71 by how common ← All logical fallacies

What it is

Uses a personal story or isolated example in place of systematic evidence. Anecdotes are vivid, but they cannot show how common or typical something is.

Example "My uncle smoked all his life and lived to 95, so smoking is fine."
