Logical fallacy

Wishful thinking

Also known as: Appeal to wishes
Fairly common#43 of 71 by how common ← All logical fallacies

What it is

Decides what is true on the basis of what one wants to be true. It is a close cousin of appeal to consequences: the conclusion is chosen because it feels good.

Example "The results will come back fine, because I can't bear for them not to."
